Must-Have Camping Gadgets And Equipment

Do you like to go camping? Are you always on the lookout for new and interesting gadgets that will make the whole camping experience more enjoyable? Camping can be a great way to experience the great outdoors. It's also a delicate balance of comfort versus weight and volume. An innerspring mattress might make sleeping on the ground more comfortable, but bringing one to your campsite would be all but impossible. While planning this year's camping trip, here are some gadgets that can help make your trip a more pleasant one:

Rocket stove: Alcohol, butane, or propane stoves are all fine and dandy, but the fuel for more than just a few meals can be unwieldy and possibly dangerous to carry. You could bring along safer solid fuel tablets instead, but these can be costly. Instead, consider purchasing a collapsible rocket stove. A rocket stove can cook your meals using wood chips, fallen branches, and other forest debris. Since they are so efficient while also being small and compact, only a small handful of wood chips may be needed to cook an entire meal. When looking at rocket stoves, make sure to pick one that can also burn solid fuel tablets. This way, if conditions are too damp or otherwise adverse to using the stove normally, you will still be able to use your stove.

Satellite two way radio:  Cell phones usually do little good in the wilderness. If there is any sort of signal at all, it's likely a very weak one. Should you become injured in some way, you'd then be unable to call for help. But a satellite two way radio doesn't rely on cell towers. Instead, as implied by the name, the signal goes through satellites in space. As a result, your camping group can keep in contact with each other or you can call for help even if you're in the middle of nowhere.

Crank-operated flashlight radio:  When camping, it's always a good idea to have a radio with you so that you can listen to the latest weather reports. This way you will be able to tell if you should get to higher ground or if you can simply wait out the storm that's on top of you. But instead of just any radio, save room in your pack by choosing a compact radio & flashlight combination. Save even more room by choosing one that also has a solar panel, in addition to the crank, and that can be used to charge other gadgets. By doing this, you can make sure that your satellite two way radio will always have sufficient power for emergencies.
